The 4th Anniversary Paradise Yellow Pages “Take A Walk In The Country” with the Makaha Sons

On Saturday, June 17, 2006, the Neal Blaisdell Center Arena becomes host to the grandest birthday party Hawai‘i has ever seen! 2006 marks 30 years of the Makaha Sons entertaining the people of Hawai‘i and the world. Throughout those 30 years, their music has been an essential part of our lives; an essential part of Hawai‘i’s history. For that reason, they are inviting the people of Hawai‘i to join in the celebration!

The party begins at 4:30pm. Chef Ceferino Maduli from Centerplate will present a sumptuous “Flavors of Hawai‘i” buffet featuring a banquet of Island delicacies. Guests will delight in more than five hours of performances by a stunning lineup of top Hawaiian entertainers and award winning hula halau, including The Brothers Cazimero, Ho‘okena, Hapa, Hoku Zuttermeister, Na Kama, Grammy Award winner Daniel Ho & Herb Ohta, Jr., special guests Aunty Genoa Keawe, Barry Kimokeo, Mark Ho‘omalu & dancers of the Academy of Hawaiian Arts, and Chinky Mahoe & Hula Halau 'O Kawaili‘ula (this year’s overall winner in the mens division at the Merrie Monarch). The Makaha Sons will top the evening off with a spectacular program, with more than a few surprises up their sleeves. “This year, because it’s our 30th anniversary, we are sparing no expense to produce a show that is worthy of such an important occasion,” says John Koko, who along with brother Jerome and group leader Moon Kauakahi are planning the concert in between traveling to the mainland and Japan. “We want this to be an event that people will remember for a long time.”
